Regional Quality Manager

Description

Mill Creek Renewables is seeking a Regional Quality Manager to join our growing team and facilitate the effective implementation of the company’s Quality Management System at the project level.  The Regional Quality Manager will manage a portfolio of projects of 20 megawatts or less.  The position will promote a team approach to ensuring the requirements of the Quality Plan, contract, drawings, and specifications are met. 

POSTION RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 

  • Being a champion of MCR safety policies and general safe work practices through leading by example

  • Direct ownership of DG quality deliverables, including creation, implementation and continuous improvement of the DG Quality Management System and Plan

  • Overseeing all aspects of required project inspections including planning, auditing, scheduling, training, coaching, close-outs and lessons learned; conduct onsite inspections on regular basis

  • Promote quality and continuous improvement across the organization

  • Collaborating with the Director of QA/QC, as well as the Project Management Team, and onsite construction Manager to develop and implement the site-specific quality plan (SSQP)

  • Tracking and monitoring inspections and testing activities, reporting quality metrics to drive continuous improvement; Retrieve, track and present quality metrics compiled by the department to the Project Management Team. 

  • Perform inspections, tests, and field audits as needed. Attend “benchmarking milestones” (Golden Row System) with on-site construction managers to assure all contractual and MCR obligations are met

  • Applying Stop Work Authority on any observed activity that is out of compliance with Safety or Quality standards; empowering all project personnel to act in the same manner

  • Tracking observations (punch list) corrective actions and assisting on-site team in remediation efforts within a 10-day period

  • Supporting the use of Standard Work; Follow defined instructions and/or participate in the development of standard operating procedures

  • Reviewing inspections, commissioning and energization plans, and coordinating inspections and tests as required

  • Identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner; Gathering pertinent information for analysis towards effective decision making; leading Root Cause Analysis and other problem-solving techniques

  • Acting as liaison between MCR and the Owner regarding quality; Scheduling and coordinating site walks with the project team and owner

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Good verbal and written communication (Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus)

  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications and contract exhibits

  • Must be analytical, organized, and have a high level of attention to detail

  • Ability to lead, train and coach onsite personnel

  • Ability to influence people to adhere to company policies, procedures, and instructions

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and Procore

  • Ability to develop and interpret reports related to quality outcomes

  • 5+ years’ experience in Quality Management with managing quality inspectors, construction coordinators, technicians, or similar

  • Ability to perform at a high level while deployed to remote project locations

  • Applicant must have a valid driver license and be eligible for corporate vehicle insurance.

  • OSHA 10 and/or 30 certifications

  • Applicant must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Work Environment:
Work environment could include both office and job site.  Position may require exposure to temperature extremes, inclement weather, various ecosystems & landscapes, strong odors, dust, loud noise, confined areas, heights, and physical, chemical, and biological hazards. Must be alert to equipment in the field. Available to work weeknights and weekends as needed.

Tools & Equipment Used:
Personal computer, including database, spreadsheet, word-processing, iPad tablet, GIS, and other project specific applications, hand tools, and a vehicle.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employees must always maintain a constant state of mental alertness.

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining the physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, climbing, walking, or standing for prolonged periods of time. Requires the ability to see, hear, and verbally communicate with co-workers and clients. Requires frequent walking on uneven ground, standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, stretching, and reaching of items weighing as much as 50 pounds. Requires the ability to read, write, keyboard, file, and legally drive a vehicle.

Company work-environment philosophy: MCR is a flex work environment, meaning some of the roles are worked primarily on a remote basis with some visits to the corporate offices while others are worked physically in the corporate office with some flexibility for occasional remote.  Work flex is based on the position and visibility needs.
