Construction Manager

Description

The Construction Manager works alongside Project Operations and Field Management to foster great client relationships, develop our employees, and oversee the construction of safe, high quality, profitable, and on schedule renewable projects.

Major Responsibilities

      • Provides on-site leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones

      • Leads and enforces the safety policies and procedures and addresses non-compliance among all employees, subcontractors, and vendors

      • Coordinate material deliveries and sequencing as appropriate to meet schedule demands.

      • Recognizes any potential patterns of rework, and develops solutions to eliminate it

      • Performs fundamental project management practices such as construction progress tracking, simple progress & financial forecasting, document management, problem solving, dispute resolution, design troubleshooting, and value engineering

      • Leads the development of the project schedule with the Project Manager and ensures the team is executing to the plan

      • Accurately develops and updates the Look Ahead schedule weekly and oversees the team and subcontractors such that they adhere to it

      • Works to beat the project cost budget. Implements effective cost controls over subcontractors, material, equipment, and other related expenditures

      • Trains the Project Team on planning, surveying, plan reading, productivity, efficiency, economical crew size, quality workmanship, and safety to ensure projects are expeditiously and profitably constructed

      • Utilizes daily huddles to promote communication, resolve issues and share ideas, so the projects are constructed expeditiously and profitably

      • Reviews all Daily Reports as well as Subcontractor's Daily Reports for accurate hours, time coding, production quantities, and activity summaries

      • Knows the key terms and conditions of the Prime Contract with the Owner; identifies and communicates deviations accordingly

      • Knows the key operational details of the subcontract and holds the subcontractors accountable to their agreement and the company's standards

      • This position is field based at our project construction sites

      • Manage punch list, demobilization and financial close out of project.

      • Other related duties as assigned or needed.

Preferred skills/knowledge

      • 5-10 years of experience in project management

      • Experience in successfully leading utility scale solar projects to on-schedule and within budget completion

      • Experience leading, motivating, and managing various project team sizes, including internal and external resources, while holding team members accountable

      • Background in project start-up meetings, subcontractor and vendor buyouts, owner estimates, sub/vendor requisitions and cost to completes

      • Demonstrated decisiveness in resolving project issues, prioritizing and decision-making

      • Demonstrated ability to read, understand and interpret contract and insurance documents

      • Proven success developing cost to complete estimates, costing, and pricing change orders, and maximizing profits

      • Excellent teamwork, communication, leadership, people, and time management skills

      • Experience influencing and gaining buy-in from stakeholders, executives, team members, and peers

      • Strong process orientation

      • Construction safety awareness and comprehension

      • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Project (or similar scheduling software), and Bluebeam (or similar) with experience presenting to stakeholders and senior leadership

Physical requirements and environment:

Typical office environment, typical construction environment, extreme weather conditions, high noise level, safety hazards (electric currents, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to chemicals), atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation). Sitting, walking, talking, hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, driving, filing, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, standing for extended periods of time, lifting, or carrying up to 40 pounds.

License/Certification:

      • Must have a valid current driver license and be eligible for corporate vehicle insurance

      • OSHA 10 and/or 30 certifications

      • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
